What? It’s Friday? Somebody fell asleep last night when she was supposed to be writing her blog post. Oops! Please forgive me and snack on the answers to your questions below.
1.) From the lovely, hilarious Harley May: What did you want to be when you were a little girl?
Harley, I first wanted to be an actress, and that dream gave way to a broadcast journalist. I was actually a broadcast journalism major at Michigan State for two years, but decided that wasn’t the most family-friendly job and I gave it up. (Also, Harley, we’re totally in for the sleepover. And the pool, I presume?)
2.) From author (who happens to be adorably pregnant) and inspiration for this post, Anne Riley: If you had a whole day to yourself, and none of your friends and family were available to hang out with, what would you do all day?
Anne, my day would go something like this: I would get up, have a delicious cup of coffee and bake muffins, because I love baking. Then I would go down to the beach at Lake Michigan and spend my afternoon reading, writing and walking along the shore. After the beach, I would go for a nice long run and do some yoga or Pilates and then make myself a yummy dinner with ingredients from the Farmer’s Market. I would follow this up by doing something crafty…making a photo collage, crocheting, making soy candles or something of the like! I’d curl up with a cup of tea glass of Cabernet and that book I was reading earlier before slipping in to freshly laundered sheets. Bliss!!
3.) From the always entertaining Bradshaw: Just how excited are you for Los Angeles with the most coolest girls on the face of the planet?
Since I just bought my ticket yesterday, I’m feeling particularly excited!! So there’s six of us, the Beer Blogger Summit Girls, and we’re ALL getting together in LA for a weekend of amazing fun. Needless to say, our daily e-mails include lots of excitement about our upcoming trip!
4.) From another awesome Beer Blogger Summit Girl, who wanted to push the boundaries on the PG-13 limit rule but stayed within, Josey asks: What was your favorite day thus far with Kyle & Aidan and why?
Ooh, hard question! Honestly, it was a really simple day of getting up together for a yummy breakfast, going to church and spending the entire afternoon at the beach. There is something so fun about being with people you love, jumping waves, digging in the sand and soaking up the sun. I’ve found that the days where we don’t make too many plans and just let ourselves be are the most enjoyable! The day was, of course, capped off with some delicious ice cream! I look forward to seeing how we spend our fall and winter days!
5.) If you like drooling over kitchens as much as I do, Kim of the blog Kim’s Kitchen Sink is where it’s at! She asks: What has been your favorite adventure/trip/activity with Aidan so far?
There were a good two years where I really rocked the single mom thing and Aidan and I did lots of little trips together. I think my very favorite was our drive to Madison, WI last year for Halloween. It was our longest road trip and we only had each other to rely on for conversation and entertainment. We went to meet up with wonderful friends for a long weekend and really had a blast. That trip showed me that even if it was just the two of us for a really long time, we could handle it! Plus, he didn’t ask to stop to use the bathroom, which is good since I’m serious about getting from Point A to Point B without dawdling in between–he’s the perfect little travel companion for me!
6.) Josh, a local friend and also a fantastic writer, asks: What are your biggest regrets?
Good question, and always a tough one. More than anything, I really regret not studying abroad. I think I would have gained SO much from living in a culture other than my own and I have such a thirst to explore more of the world. Plus, as a Spanish major, spending extended time in Spain or another Spanish-speaking country would have done wonders for my language abilities. Now I’m just determined to be able to travel quite a bit throughout my life!
7.) Kyle, who just so happens to be my amazing boyfriend, asks: How am I so blessed to be loved by an amazing woman like you?
Well. A girl can get choked up pretty easily around here.
Kyle and I feel incredibly blessed to have found each other. And we’re totally in love. So, honey, it’s easy to love you. I don’t even think about it…it just is!
8.) Even though she HATES being asked this herself, Ashley, the Accidental Olympian asks: Is he the one? And if he is, are we all invited to the wedding?
Ashley, please see above.
Yes, he is THE ONE. And I know, because nobody else could be the one. He totally gets me, embraces my flaws and loves me for me. We are completely open and honest with each other about everything, and it doesn’t hurt that we’re quite attracted to each other! And we’re talking wedding talk…when we know how big the guest list is going to be, I’ll let you know!!
9.) Jan, an amazing woman in my hometown who I dine with once a month, asks: When do you need the Mustang?
Well, this is OBVIOUSLY the best question of the bunch! Jan (who is just super cool in every way) has a beautiful red Mustang she is kind enough to lend to me for a special night. And Jan–because I plan on using the car to take Kyle out, I can’t publicly post the date. But I’ll call you!
10.) A girl I don’t see nearly enough but with whom I always have a fantastic beer-drinking good time when I do, Madeline, asks: First place you’d travel to if you had unlimited funds and a week of free time….go!
Unlimited funds and a week of free time?! This sounds spectacular. Though there are many, many places I’d like to travel (New Zealand, South America and Singapore among them) I would pick Europe for this visit. I have a strong desire to visit Italy, I’d definitely want to swing through Portugal and Belgium, for Stella beer and chocolate purposes, would be high on my list too. I wouldn’t want to sightsee as much as I’d want to acclimate to what the locals do. I love visiting the hidden gems the locals love and dining at awesome lesser-known places. I’ll let you know if I ever get this opportunity!
Wow, this was long! But very fun, and I thank you for playing. We’ll have to do this again sometime!
