About
The short version: I used to be a single mom to my five-year-old, Aidan. Then I fell in love with an incredible man, Kyle, and we’re engaged! I love writing, running, reading, the outdoors, music, Lake Michigan, chocolate, cooking, baking and finding creative ways to be thrify.
The long version: When I had Aidan, I was just 21 years old. I would later go on to be a single mom. I started this blog as an outlet for our adventures, my parenting mishaps, my reflections on life and the occasional musing about dating. What I learned over those 2+ difficult years is that I’m always going to make mistakes and I regularly feel like I’m falling short as a mother.
But I also learned that I could do it. That I could pick up all the pieces, that I could always find a way to get done what needed to be done. In those years I graduated from college, lived alone with my preschooler and shoveled copious amounts of snow in the wee hours of the morning. In the archives you’ll find stories about trying to hoist myself up onto the roof to clean the gutters, what I did when I heard a mouse in the garbage cupboard and how sometimes making grand plans with your child results in disaster.
Then I fell in love with a man I met ten years earlier under much different circumstances. And I very unexpectedly found myself living this dream life I always wanted and never thought I was going to have. Now I’m a bride (what?!) planning a wedding and my little guy is in Kindergarten. I really can’t express how grateful I am for all I’ve been blessed with.
But I’m still running late on a regular basis and I don’t really look any more pulled together than I did before so, you know, still working on it all.
Thanks for being here!
Howdy-doo Penelope,

Thanks so much for stopping by! It’s great to have you here.
Well now that you “found” me through Jolene, I’m finding you and loving what you have to say. Thanks for making the connection!
